The
Board of Directors of the “Sports and Cultural Club Pegasus Neos
Kosmos”, deeply regrets the fact that the name of the Club was used
for the sake of non-athletic expediency.
The
"news" we read on social network website where an
expatriates organization from Australia "informed" the
readers that our Club withdraws from the Hellenic Federation of Rugby
League, is utterly untrue.
“APS
Pegasus” is a Club with thirty years of history. It has played an
important role in the matters of the neighborhood of Neos Kosmos and
has given social and environmental struggles which rallied the
citizens.
The Club is also active in volleyball, soccer,
basketball, softball and of course Rugby League. It is the first of
the founding members of the Federation. Participated in all the HFRL
(and the Commission which preceded) tournaments since 2012.
Participated in all the General Assemblies of the Federation and in
this year's elections our President was elected as Deputy President
of the Federation.
Moreover,
our Rugby League Team finished at the second place of the
Championship table,
being the only team without dicipline points.
Obviously,
we have no reason to resign from the Federation. On the contrary. The
route of the Federation so far is impressive
and a lot of credit is deserved to the
ones who contributed to that
and those who still continue to offer their support. Three
championship tournaments, three cup tournaments, new clubs in Attica
and the countryside, coaches and referees training, youth
development, notable participation in three General Meetings of the
European Federation, are just some of the achievements of the last
three years. These did not come alone. It took a lot of hard work and
ability to be achieved.
Those
who are using the name of “Pegasus” without the approval of the
Club, are harming the Club, the sport of Rugby League and the
outcoming image of all of us. We will not allow it.
We
support the Hellenic Federation of Rugby League, we will continue
working for the development of the
sport
and we call all those who also love it to become reasonable and stop
harming Rugby League.
The
President The Secretary General
Mihalis
Aidonidis Vasilis Stakias
