Ερνέστο «Τσε» Γκεβάρα. Ο θρυλικός Αργεντινός μαρξιστής αντάρτης (στην Κούβα όπου αναδείχθηκε και τη Βολιβία όπου σκοτώθηκε). Έπαιξε ράγκμπυ στην Αργεντινή στα φοιτητικά του χρόνια, όταν σπούδαζε γιατρός. Ήταν τόσο φανατικός με το άθλημα, που εξέδιδε μάλιστα δικό του σχετικό περιοδικό, το “Tackler”. Έπαιξε σαν έφηβος στην Κόρδοβα και σαν φοιτητής. Παρά το αδύνατο παρουσιαστικό του (ήταν ασθματικός), ο προπονητής της Estudiantes, όταν πήγε εκεί για δοκιμαστικό, εντυπωσιάστηκε από τα δυνατά του τάκλιν και την «με την ψυχή του» συμμετοχή του στο παιχνίδι. Κέρδισε έτσι εύκολα μια θέση στην ομάδα. Συνέχισε να παίζει όταν μπήκε στην Ιατρική στο Μπουένος Άιρες. Εκεί εξέδωσε με άλλους δυο φίλους το περιοδικό του. Ο Τσε, που δεν έκανε εύκολα φίλους, απόλαυσε τη συντροφικότητα του ράγκμπυ, κάτι που ξανασυνειδητοποίησε στα βουνά της Κούβας, ως αντάρτης. Στο ράγκμπυ κέρδισε το προσωνύμιο «fuser» (σε ελεύθερη μετάφραση «σπίθα» ή αυτός που «αρπάει» εύκολα) από το επιθετικό του παιχνίδι. Ο «αγιοποιημένος» νοτιαμερικανός ήρωας, σκοτώθηκε από μικτές δυνάμεις των ΗΠΑ και της Βολιβίας, το 1967 σε ηλικία 39 ετών. Despite crippling childhood asthma that would dog him throughout his life, the Argentine-born Guevara started playing rugby in his teenage years when his family moved to Cordoba, a town that would later produce a number of famous Pumas including Hugo Porta. Although the Estudiantes club coach was unimpressed by a rather weak looking figure who turned up for his first trial, his hard tackling and whole-hearted commitment soon won him a starting place in the three-quarters. He continued playing when he started medical school in Buenos Aires and it was there, with a couple of friends, that he launched the rugby magazine 'Tackle' which ran for 11 issues. Guevara, who did not make friends easily, relished the comradeship rugby brought, something he later rediscovered whilst fighting his guerilla war in the Cuban moutains in the late 1950s. Guevara was executed by USA / Bolivian forces in October 1967 at the age of 39."
